After much backlash, Sony has now agreed to give Fortnite players on PS4 the ability to play with those on other consoles. Fortnite PS4 Cross-Play Open Beta goes Live now enabling “gameplay, progression, and commerce” in battle royale game across Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, iOS, Android, Windows PC, and Mac.
PS4 Fortnite players will now get to play the Fortnite with those on the Nintendo Switch and Xbox One. Earlier the PS4 crossplay has been restricted to PC, Android, and iOS. Sony CEO Kenchiro Yoshida has also made a statement that Fortnite PS4 crossplay won’t exist which brought much outrage from the fans and other video game industry leaders.
Sony however seems to waiting for concerns regarding Fortnite PS4 crossplay, as it is referred as the ‘extended beta’.
John Kodera, President and Global CEO, Sony Interactive Entertainment says, “The first step will be an open beta beginning today for Fortnite that will allow for cross platform gameplay, progression and commerce across PlayStation 4, Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, and Mac operating systems,”
“We see the beta as an opportunity to conduct thorough testing that ensures cross-platform play is best on PlayStation, while being mindful about the user experience from both a technical and social perspective,” he further added.
Ahead of the Fortnite Season 6 on September 27, the cross-play beta arrives on PS4 in time. Epic has unveiled Fortnite Season 6 teaser for Fortnite which features a purple color scheme, much like the strange cube that appeared in the game.
